Lawyers from across Canberra gathered for the ACT Law Society’s Government Law Drinks on 7 November, hosted by Meyer Vandenberg.
The quarterly gathering is a welcome opportunity for lawyers to expand their networks and meet key people in the ACT. The guest speaker for the Spring event was Department of Health General Counsel Jackie Davis. Ms Davis spoke on leadership and influence.
“Whether you are, or aspire to be a leader in the traditional sense, want to grow your legal practice, or simply be a good lawyer in whom clients have confidence, leadership skills are essential,” Ms Davis advised.
She explored the difference between being a good and a bad leader, and why it is important to endeavour to be a good leader even if both types have influence.
Meyer Vandenberg Special Counsel Harry Kay closed proceedings and took some time to reflect on the life of Rudi Vandenberg who passed away on 2 November. Mr Vandenberg specialised in property law and is a part of Meyer Vandenberg Lawyers’ rich Canberra history.
MV Lawyers Business Development Manager Susan Blain says the Government Law Drinks are an important part of Meyer Vandenberg’s practice.
“Jackie is an excellent speaker and we are pleased to host this Spring event and continue to help the Law Society to provide networking opportunities for government lawyers.”
Meyer Vandenberg donated the registration fees for the event to the Stella Bella Little Stars Foundation.
