Registration opens for home buyers to participate in Taylor ballot

B2B Editor9 February 2017

Registration opens at 10am tomorrow (Friday) for the ballot draw for the opportunity to buy one of the first 126 single residential blocks in the new Gungahlin suburb of Taylor.

Registrations for the ballot will be open at www.lda.act.gov.au until 4pm on 20 February. Successful registrants will be notified of their place in the ballot draw on 15 March, with block selection and sales scheduled for 29-30 March.

Blocks available in the first release are between 250 and 587 square metres and range from $221,000 to $383,000. There are 34 blocks under $300,000 available for land rent.

Land Development Agency CEO David Dawes said the first release in Taylor is an excellent opportunity for Canberrans to get into the housing market in a new suburb.

“Settlement on blocks in the first release is expected in the middle of this year so this is a great chance for people to purchase land in a new suburb that will soon be ready to build on,” Mr Dawes said.

“The ballot is designed to give prospective homeowners an opportunity to purchase property and blocks are limited to one per person.”

An information expo at the Kamberra Function Centre from 9am on Saturday will give potential buyers more information about the planning and design of Taylor, the purchasing process and what can be built in the estate.

Taylor is just 4km from the Gungahlin Town Centre, adjacent to Horse Park Drive to the north of Casey and Moncrieff.

The suburb will provide options for every stage of life and has been carefully planned to include plenty of green spaces, central meeting places and amenities.

Taylor will include a primary school (which will be open for new students in 2019), local shops, playing fields and playgrounds all connected through sprawling parkland.

When completed Taylor will have about 2,500 dwellings in a mix of low and medium-density housing options.
