Real estate runs in Sam Taylor’s blood. His family has been in the biz for three generations. When growing up, he wanted to be an architect. Then he thought he’d like to be a builder. Today he’s a dynamic, young, up-and-coming registered associate agent with McGrath Belconnen/Gungahlin.

“This is only my third year in the industry and I’m loving it,” says Sam, who is just 19 years of age. “I’m part of a great team that works hard to see that everyone we meet within a sales process has a great experience.”

Sam landed at McGrath as an intern, working part-time while completing his Year 12. It didn’t take long for Principal Craig Chapman to see the enthusiasm for property flowing through Sam’s veins. Sales agent Jess Smith was also impressed and took Sam under her wing.

After three months working as an admin assistant, McGrath offered Sam a full-time position.

Although real estate is serious business, Sam’s sense of humour is infectious, and he’s known to regularly “crack funnies”, even while maintaining his professionalism.

Sam’s approach to service is mature and well thought through, including when faced with a challenge that needs to be solved.

“This is only my third year in the industry and I’m loving it,” says Sam Taylor of McGrath Belconnen/Gungahlin.

“We often say it’s not the problem that’s the problem,” says Sam. “It’s the way it’s communicated to buyers and sellers. Great communications, including being clear and direct, helps minimise errors and keeps buyers and sellers on side.”

Sam hadn’t been working with Jess and JD (short for Jess Doolan, the third member of the executive sales team he works in) for long when faced with his first challenging sale.

“We were working to achieve a premium result in an oversupplied apartment market with lower demand, an election looming, pressure on the banks and other factors,” says Sam. “It tested me in my early days, but Jess helped me navigate the situation and we ended up with a great result. That’s what it’s all about.”

Sam couldn’t wait to enter the industry and would have been happy to ditch school to do so but his parents wisely nudged him to complete his Year 12 Certificate. He also now has a Certificate 3 in Business and is a registered real estate agent.

“McGrath delivers great results, and I just want to make sure everyone walks away with a fantastic experience.”

“One of my main goals is to catapult the reputation of real estate agents so it sits up there with trusted professionals like doctors,” says Sam.

At McGrath, Sam has found his happy place: “McGrath delivers great results, and I just want to make sure everyone walks away with a fantastic experience.”

McGrath is keen to take on other young people who might enjoy a structured career in real estate. Contact Suzi Wells on [email protected].
